About METRO China

As a leading wholesaler and retailer, METRO China opened its first wholesale store in Shanghai in 1996, and thus brought in the country a brand new business concept. The company has set its foot already in 60 Chinese cities with 99 stores in operation with more than 11,000 employees serving 20 million customers across the country. In the financial year 2019/2020, the sales reached around RMB22.95 billion. Focusing on different customer groups, METRO China is developing multiple sales channels including O2O Omni-channel retail, Food Service Distribution, and Welfare & Gifting to provide a variety of high-quality products and online-offline integrated services for professional customers and individual consumers.

Founded by Dr. Zhang Wenzhong in 1994, Wumei owns various business models spreading nationwide including Wumart, Xinhua Department Stores, B&Q(China), METRO(China), Chongqing Department Stores. Wumei operates over 1,800 stores across the country. In 2020, the sales of the Group reached more than 100 billion yuan (about $16 billion).

Founded by Dr. Zhang Wenzhong in 2015, Dmall is a digital retail solution provider, committed to carrying out digital transformation and upgrading deep into the entire retail chain for traditional retailers. As of the end of October, 2020, Dmall has cooperated with more than 120 chain supermarkets, applied its digital retail solution in more than 13,000 stores. Dmall now has over 150 million registered accounts, with monthly active users exceeding 18 million.

Founded in 1964, the German-based company METRO AG leading international wholesale company with food and non-food assortments that specializes on serving the needs of hotels, restaurants and caterers (HoReCa) as well as independent traders.
